Future is Collective–; Quilts of Resistance and Solidarity.

Exhibited at Remai Modern, International Women’s Day, March 2025

Future Is Collective is a three-piece textile installation embodying the power of community, solidarity, and shared vision. Each quilt contains 300 fabric squares, many carrying messages from participants around the world. These messages were collected from:

  • Visitors at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

  • The National Museum of World Cultures in Mexico City

  • Over 150 online participants who responded to my call to reflect on these questions:

- What does global liberation mean to you?

- How can we stand together for justice?

These quilts symbolize hope, resistance, and the power of collective voices. Like frames of an animation, they tell a visual story of transformation and renewal. The first quilt begins with the sun emerging on the horizon, the second shows it rising, and the third depicts the sun fully shining in the sky. This progression is a metaphor for resilience, reminding us that after every darkness, there is light.

Each message is an act of expression and resistance—some are words of hope, and others are declarations of solidarity, personal reflections, or calls for justice. Together, they form a tapestry of voices that highlight the power of collective storytelling.
