Hajar Moradi is an Iranian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist and animation filmmaker based in Toronto. Her practice spans painting, installation, and video, exploring themes of identity, memory, displacement, and collective resilience. Through her work, she examines the intersections of personal and political narratives, with a particular focus on the female experience and the impact of sociopolitical forces on everyday life. Her projects often engage with communities and invite reflection on belonging, resistance, and the power of collective storytelling.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Aga Khan Museum and the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, the Remai Modern in Saskatoon, and the Museo Nacional de las Culturas in Mexico. Her installation, Woman Life Freedom Banner, is held in the permanent collection of the Canadian Museum of History.
Hajar holds a BFA (double major in graphic design and illustration) from Shahed Art University in Tehran. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants from major national and international cultural organizations, including the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. Her animation work has also been recognized internationally, including a Canadian Screen Award nomination, Best Short Animation at FIC AUTOR Festival, and awards at Mecal Pro in Barcelona and the Farhang International Film Festival.
She is also the co-founder and Creative Director of Vivido Studio, an animation and production studio specializing in educational and public sector storytelling.
